FOR FOOD AND PROCESS MANUFACTURERS

Build a decarbonisation plan your site can use.

LCA+ (Life Cycle Assessment + Decarbonisation Model) combines Aminu's operational review with life cycle modelling in Minviro XYCLE. In four to eight weeks, we build an implementation plan around the operation's main cost and emissions hotspots.

LCA+ · DECISION METHOD

Site data goes into one Minviro XYCLE model.

Life Cycle Assessment + Decarbonisation Model starts with the way the business actually runs, bringing available information on energy, waste, water, materials, logistics and production into a model shaped by the agreed question.

A project can cover a site, production line, process or supply chain. Fees normally fall between £20,000 and £80,000, with the final amount set by complexity and data access.

LCA+ · DECISION METHOD

When LCA+ can help.

01

Cost pressure

Energy or resource use is affecting margin and the site needs to know where action could make a meaningful difference.

02

Existing footprint

The business has carbon data, but the findings have not yet become a funded plan with clear ownership.

03

Customer evidence

A retailer or supply chain partner is asking what will change, so the team needs a credible basis for its answer.

04

Equipment constraints

Useful progress is needed from the current operation while larger equipment remains in service.

What you receive.

01

Baseline footprint

The footprint covers Scopes 1–4: direct emissions, indirect emissions from energy, value chain emissions and avoided emissions. Scope 4 is an emerging concept; avoided emissions are shown separately from the Scopes 1–3 inventory.

02

Hotspot analysis

The review locates the parts of the operation where emissions, resource use and cost are concentrated.

03

Opportunities ranked for action

We start with cost and likely carbon effect, then account for implementation effort and operating risk using conditions from the site.

04

Modelled reduction pathway

LCA+ provides a quantified 10–35% reduction pathway, with opportunities to save on energy, waste, water and logistics, and a clear implementation plan. This is a modelled pathway whose delivery depends on the site and measures implemented.

LCA+ · DECISION METHOD

How the work runs.

Data access sets the pace. Most clients need an operations lead and a sustainability or ESG lead to give one to two hours a week.

01

Project scope

The opening discussion establishes the question, organisational boundary and decision that the model needs to support.

02

Available data

We check the coverage and quality of what the business already holds, identifying any gap that could materially affect the result.

03

Baseline model

Operational and supply chain data is assembled in Minviro XYCLE, with each significant assumption recorded for later review.

04

Hotspot review

The analysis finds the parts of the footprint that deserve attention and connects them to the way work happens on site.

05

Practical options

We model possible improvements using the client's operating conditions, cost information and implementation constraints.

06

Written recommendation

The final output includes the implementation plan and explains how the chosen measures should be tracked. We are still formalising our standard protocol for baseline adjustments, measurement periods and verification. TBC · T04Confirm baseline adjustments, measurement periods and verification protocol

LCA+ · DECISION METHOD

When a capital project is the answer.

The current deliverables are the model, analysis and implementation plan. Any detailed engineering design, procurement or assurance work would need a separate scope, although LCA+ can provide evidence for the decision that follows.

The quality of the result depends on the available data. Estimates and assumptions stay visible in the final work so the client can judge how much weight to place on them.

LCA+ · DECISION METHOD

Keep the model useful after delivery.

Optional ongoing work is available for clients that want to update the Minviro XYCLE model as operations, costs or supply chain data change.

01

A useful starting point

There is a defined operational question, access to relevant data and a client team able to take part during the project.

02

Another service may be needed

The immediate requirement is detailed engineering design, equipment procurement, a statutory audit or assurance of a finished environmental claim.
