Non food cellulose
The process model uses broomcorn fibre as the raw material for ethanol.
GASOL FIELD RESEARCH
Gasol uses broomcorn fibre as a non food feedstock. Agronomy trials at Langford, Bristol, are adding field evidence to ORE's completed techno economic and life cycle assessments.
GASOL · UNDER DEVELOPMENT
The proposed Gasol feedstock is the fibrous part of broomcorn. ORE's process model excludes its use as a food product and assumes that the crop can be grown with relatively little fertiliser and irrigation, which would reduce emissions before the material reaches a fuel process.
The field programme will test that assumption under UK conditions and establish how much usable material could be available for later development.
GASOL · UNDER DEVELOPMENT
The process model uses broomcorn fibre as the raw material for ethanol.
Trial records will show how much fertiliser, irrigation and field work the crop needs in practice.
ORE is developing a UK grown feedstock supply, with trials at Langford, Bristol, informing the programme's next stage.
GASOL · UNDER DEVELOPMENT
Agronomy trials at Langford, Bristol, include precision compost work on broomcorn. Trial records cover yield and carbon intensity.
Aminu reports higher yield and lower carbon intensity in the early trial results. Field performance will continue to inform the crop assumptions used in Gasol development.
GASOL · UNDER DEVELOPMENT
ORE's completed life cycle modelling supports an estimated 70–85% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions for the proposed Gasol pathway. This is a modelled fuel pathway result; RTFO validation and the pilot line are planned.
The TEA and LCA work compares broomcorn with wheat straw and corn stover. Low fertiliser and irrigation inputs reduce upstream emissions in the model, which draws on residue feedstock, an assumption of no land use change and comparable published pathway data.
GASOL · UNDER DEVELOPMENT
ORE's commercial case includes a residue based pathway intended for double counting under the Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation. RTFO validation is planned, so certificate treatment remains to be confirmed.
The conversion route and pilot measures also need to be agreed before work starts at Langford. TBC · T12/T14Complete conversion and RTFO pathway review
GASOL · UNDER DEVELOPMENT
The calculation must cover harvest, storage, transport, preprocessing and conversion as well as growing the crop. Alongside investors and agronomy partners, ORE wants to speak with ethanol buyers assessing alcohol to jet Sustainable Aviation Fuel pathways and with E85 blenders for ground transport.
Detailed buyer specifications and offtake assumptions are still being developed. TBC · T15Confirm buyer requirements and offtake assumptions
GASOL · UNDER DEVELOPMENT
ORE needs a documented field record covering the relevant trial conditions and method.
ORE still needs a feedstock specification covering the composition and handling requirements of the selected ethanol process.
ORE will choose the technical route and agree the evidence that the pilot should produce.
The final pathway will be submitted for a formal view under the Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation.
The latest field and conversion evidence will be added to the cost model before the pilot decision.
